Your MacBook notch,
now a tiny drawer.
Hover the notch to open a drawer for files, quick notes, AirDrop, music, a mirror and a focus timer. Move away and it tucks back in.
Free and open source under GPL-3.0. Needs macOS 15.6 or later.
The drawer above is a working demo. Click the notch to close it.
Closed, it stays out of the way

-
Focus timer The countdown sits beside the camera while you work.
-
Music Album art and a level meter while a song plays.
What's in the drawer
Hold files
- File shelf
- Drag files in to park them, with real thumbnails. Drag them out again into Finder, Mail or Slack.
- Instant AirDrop
- Drop files on the AirDrop tab and the share sheet opens with them already attached.
- Opens when you drag
- Pull a file toward the top of the screen and the drawer opens to catch it.
Write things down
- Quick notes
- A full-width notepad that saves as you type.
- Save to Apple Notes
- One click copies the note into Notes, so it syncs to your iPhone over iCloud.
Stay focused
- Pomodoro timer
- Focus and break sessions with a chime at the end. The countdown stays visible when the drawer is closed.
- Hides in full screen
- Movies, games and presentations get the whole screen. Notchify steps aside.
Glance and go
- Music controls
- See what Apple Music or Spotify is playing and pause it without switching apps.
- Camera mirror
- A quick look before a call, flipped like a real mirror. Off until you turn it on.
- Two buttons you choose
- Pick any two of Capture, Lock and Pomodoro. Capture hides the drawer before it takes the shot.

Questions
What is Notchify?
A small macOS app that turns the MacBook notch into a drawer. Hover the notch and you get a file shelf, AirDrop, quick notes, music controls, a camera mirror and a Pomodoro timer.
Is it free?
Yes. Notchify is free and open source under the GPL-3.0 license. There are no ads, subscriptions or in-app purchases.
Does Notchify collect any data?
No. There are no analytics or trackers. Your notes, shelved files and camera image stay on your Mac.
How does saving to Apple Notes work?
In the Notes tab, click the save button and Notchify creates a new note in Apple Notes. The first time, macOS asks whether Notchify may control Notes; choose OK. If it can't reach Notes, the note is copied to your clipboard instead so nothing is lost.
Does the timer keep running when I close the drawer?
Yes. Start a focus session, close the drawer and keep working. The countdown stays next to the notch until the session ends.
Which Macs does it work on?
Any Mac running macOS 15.6 or later. On MacBooks with a notch it lives in the notch; on other displays it shows a small pill at the top of the screen instead.
Why does macOS say it can't verify the developer?
Notchify is distributed outside the App Store. Right-click the app and choose Open, or run xattr -cr /Applications/Notchify.app in Terminal.
